Vancouver Art Gallery: Everything Everyday

Event Date: Thursday, November 25, 2010

Since 2002, The Everything Everyday exhibit has been a staple at the Vancouver Art Gallery. This year, the exhibit centers around three themes: Everyday Actions, Everyday Objects and Everyday Encounters.

Everyday Actions includes works based around the simple tasks people perform on a regular basis. Everyday Objects takes ordinary objects (desks, pencils, apples) and makes them the subject. Lastly, Everyday Encounters examines the common interactions that occur in everyday life. Despite the simple nature of the subject matter, the artists in this exhibition manage to provoke surprising and poetic interpretations of the everyday in their work.

This years exhibit will feature several different artists including: Arabella Campbell, Hadley+Maxwell, LAIWAN, Mona Hatoum, Gathie Falk, Ruth Scheuing, Khan Lee, Euan Macdonald, Aganetha Dyck, Diane Borsato, Gabriel Orozco, James Welling and others.
